The only two days warm enough to inspect my hives have been work days, so haven`t opened them up at all since we fed fondant last year. Plenty of bees flying though. Have ordered another brood box , and have been making frames. Fingers crossed.

We both have white suits from Buzzy. Local company. Well made , nice thick cotton. We have fencing style hoods.

We had a good morning looking around Conwy and sampling other peoples honey. One chap had some honey infused with ginger, lovely. Have done some of mine with fresh root ginger. Good for winter colds. The weather wasn`t too bad, heavy drizzle at one point. Local ice -cream was good.

We are going.We are up on Angelsey for a weeks holiday.

So, with my bees being kept at an out apiary, do I use the postcode from there or my home where we jar it?

If I fill half of them I will be very pleased.

Out of curiosity, how much honey would a standard national super hold when its full? Going to order jars, don`t want too few.

Well, oh checked the nuc this morning, and changed the opening to queen excluder mode. How can we tell if the swarm is prime or cast though? If its cast, we will need to change the opening again to let her fly. Sorry, but very new to this beekeeping lark.

My oh has just rushed of and collected a swarm to prevent it being killed.Its about the size of a rugby ball. He collected it in a poly-nuc,and has put it in our out-apiery with the small vent open. I would like eventually to unite with a weak hive,but can`t find the queen in said hive...

Thank you all for your advice. I`m going to ABeeC supplies this afternoon to pic up a nuc box etc. We will be driving home slowly and carefully.
