Hi all,

My two hives have done well so far and upon placing fondant on both hives late last week there seems to be a huge amount of bees in each hive but only less than 2 full frames of stores remaining...I am concerned about this but was contemplating 1:1 syrup due to the warmer weather...should I just stop being silly and keep using fondant or would 1:1 be ok if the temperatures increase towards the latter end of the week.

Also what are the cons of feeding syrup at this time of year instead of fondant? Surely they need water to break the fondant down which is an effort to obtain in itself!

Thanks

Andy

Keep going with the fondant.. hold back on the 1:1

Some say bees suck up water from condensation from hive...
I make sure there is a good supply near the hives.. they love the ducks pond water.. filthier the better it seems!

My Surrey bees much prefer next door's hot tub....;)

Keep with the fondant, you can always take the slab off later.

Although to be honest two frames of food left at this time of the year isn't bad! Well done
E
