Hi newbee coming into second year , getting in a pickle ,hope you can advice

i bought 4 framed nuc May last year put into 14 x 12 Hive, 5 supers later

and 100lb of Honey later ,tried to clear bees into brood for winter but all stuck

on outside of hive ,replaced an empty super ontop, and feed, inspected yesterday

both Brood box + super are jammed with bees /eggs .

Do i , Find her majesty put her into brood and put Q/E on top let brood
hatch and remove super

would like to also change the 4 old frames can i Bailey change just 4
frames.

It would appear extra space is required for brood if both boxes 'are jammed with bees /eggs' as you put it. Simply squeezing her into the one box is likely to precipitate a swarm.

Just consider the effect your changes are going to have on the colony, before deciding a course of action. That way your beekeepig can avoid getting into a pickle, or simply making matters worse.

Hardly. move them steadily towards the outer edges of the box and replace them later in the year when they are the outermost frame and not used for brood.

Hi , 8 x eggs in Brood + 2 x stores, the same in super , bees are building comb
in top space under, have another hive all is perfect no problems,

in this area hives went into winter with large amounts of bees and perished
through lack of stores mine have survived,

Brian,

you might find it better to run as two standard brood system rather than 14x12+half as it gives you more options to split off Nucs and artificial swarms etc

you are going to have a very active MAY and JUNE if they are that large

do you know the Qs heritage, i have only heard of nuc to 14x12+half with Greek crosses with Carnies
