any thoughts on this as have a few hives with queencells and dont want to as or else all bees will be gone anyway for the main flow over the next 2-2.5 weeks(if the weather clears up)

Check if they are queenright before you touch any cell.
Then I would dump queen cells if they are queenright as we are struggling to get virgins mated this year- loads of drone laying queens - problem hives.

Sorry to hijack but I guess this question could help us both.

If you destroy all the queen cells (in queenright colony), what are the chances of them just giving up on the idea of swarming at this time of year?

If they are swarm cells they will swarm regardless.

If they are sup cells they will rebuild them.
