"RARE bee-eaters are breeding on the Isle of Wight for the first time.
The pair of colourful birds have set up home on National Trust land in the sandy hills of the Wydcombe Estate, near Whitwell.
They have become only the third pair of this exotic European bird to breed successfully in Britain in the last century.
The adult birds, with their kaleidoscopic plumage, have been spotted delivering food into the nest, which indicates the eggs have hatched, according to the trust." From the IWCP website today
Lovely to have something exotic breeding here but they can keep off my hives!
Does anyone have any local experience of living with these beasties?
