just going through some notes today from a beekeepers improvement course earlier this year and one of the speakers mentioned they use 2 drops of peppermint oil in a spray bottle and spray everything plus queen and have had no faliures .......just thought what others think about this method ...

many thank in advance

I use 2 drops of lemongrass oil in a water sprayer - seems to work well as the girls are quite calm after I use it. Smells nice too

For uniting (always) and queen introduction (sometimes!) we use a few drops of Thyme tincture (not 'thymol'!) in the water sprayer.
Herbal tincture - based on alcohol - mixes easily with water.

Peppermint/Lemongrass oil - should need an emulsifier or something similar to mix with water?

Regards
Reiner

(Should'nt the queen pheromones be sufficient to do the job?)

Rosemary water does it for my bees
pint of hot spring water... boil in a hefty couple of sprigs of fresh rosemary ,cool and add a pinch of white granulated cane sugar.
