I have about 100ltr of 1:1 syrup in 5ltr containers that I don't want to pour down the drain. what can I add to it to stop it fermenting or going mouldy.

would campden tablets or youngs fermentation stopper (potassium sorbate) work? or shall I just add some of HMs thymol mix?

Add thymol dissolved in alcohol.. (It will then smell)

Thymol is your best option. I have a jar of 1:1 syrup in my garage over a year old. Made up to hivemakers recipe and added at the correct ratio. No mould at all and the bees stored the syrup that I had left from the previous year fine with no issues.

Yes, make sure you use the right proportion. It's in a thread somewhere. (Site is loading too slow for me to look just now.)

you can add a thymol crystal to each if you have the solid. It will not dissolve but will stop mould forming.

Mine seems to stay fresh over winter, guessing because it has Hive Alive in it.
