rotating brood box. why?

looking through youtube came across a rotating brood box i found it at stup rotativ any ideas why (sorry i did try and make a link but rubbish on computers)
 
Our association was given one to try, it was supposed to control varroa and was powered by a 12 volt battery, it was actually useless, a nightmare to open as you rolled the bees on the dish shaped plastic frames as you extracated them from the box. The whole thing was not practical to use for bees really, the rotater could be set to move so many degrees every so many minutes so it was not continually moving, the frames are held in place by a metal clip across the back of them. I dont know what happened to it but it certainly was not the success that they thought it would be
