I harvested some honey early August, and seeing as close to heather and balsam, put the second supers back. One hive has totally ignored it, so I have removed that today as no honey in it at all, so they are now ready for winter with brood and a half.

2nd hive has a very small amount of honey in their 2nd super, mostly uncapped. I want to remove it so they concentrate on filling their super for the winter but not sure how to get the honey out to store it. Will I have to borrow a spinner again to remove this tiny amount? I'm guessing the frames can't be stored with uncapped honey in them.

Hmmmm....

That sounds easy! Will they clean it all so I can store the frames?

It's known as a 'nadir', as JBM says, they will move it upstairs. As per Dusty, keeps the cluster up out of draughts and in early Spring you will find a clean super ready to use.
