I think the more we look the more we're going to find sub-lethal effects like this on wildlife from human activity.

It's a bit like pet cats- even if they don't hunt, when allowed to roam free their presence stops wildlife like native birds from feeding for a time after the cat has been present. In time this reduces how well the wildlife survive or reproduce (some bird species need to eat something roughly every couple of minutes on average) so populations decline over time. Effects like this can also be seen with walking a dog.
