I carried out a hive inspection today and I came across some brace comb that had what looked like some sort of mold in it. I couldn't tell anything from smell, and it didn't look like it was the remains of a larvae...it looked more like layers of mold. Could anyone shed some light on what it is?

Probably pollen, it comes in all sorts of colours.

And an egg in next cell.. . Leave to the bees to sort. Mould tends to be dusty green and on edges not deep in.
Just know your disease signs. Only thing that matters.

East Sussex? Hope you come to our meetings, all that stuff taught. ;)

Thanks all, another useful little snippet of info to be stored away!

@Heather, I am a member and currently doing the beginners course. It was actual that which caused me concern, I'm not too far from the association apiary and the EFB outbreak had me paying extra attention to things out of the ordinary.

Quite a comeback! I suggest you find each other in person...

I am always happy to mentor a Div member. Where are you based, Baker? Must be near Plumpton if worried about EFB. Thought cleared.
I run 2 Assoc apiaries and mine both have full clean bill of health.
