As a relatively new 'BeeFarmer' can some of you more experienced beekeepers then me how you manage requeening colonies after the queen has been lost by an attempted swarm in apiaries that are not visited particularly frequently.

Some of my apiaries I visit every ten days and are miles away. The queens are clipped and so on a few occasions I have arrived at the apiary and maybe one or two of the colonies have capped queen cells and the queen is missing. The colony strength looks as if they are all present although a little grumpy! Now in time I hope to have a constant supply of mated queens but I would like to know how others might manage the situation.

I did hear that some have nucs that are specifically used for keeping mated queens for immediate introduction to colonies that lose their queen. Others have a supply of virgin queens and they are run in when the cells are removed.

Any help or ideas are welcome. :thanks:
