MAD Honey Disease

I was hoping to place a hive near one of the largest collections of rhododendron's in Scotland with loads of mature trees which make a great show during late spring.

Having read this looks like a rethink is in order!

Rhododendron ponticum grows in profusion around the Black Sea the Turkish bee keepers in the area call the honey "mad honey". This is sold 'under the counter' for medicinal purposes of course -

rhodedendron is a invasive plant that is very difficult to eradicate.

I have an out Apiary with a large ornimental Rhododenrom immediatley behind it, Never seen any bees collecting pollen or Nector from it

It should be replaced with Himalayan balsam whenever possible!
