Every afternoon from about 2pm to about 4pm a large number of bees are seen orientating outside the hive.
So, I'm wondering at what age a nurse bee leaves the hive for a peek outside, do they leave just once or over several days and for what purpose - maybe a p**?
Are they older bees who will be on guard duty the next day getting a feel for the area?
Are they guard bees who will be foraging the next day
Why early afternoon and not at noon?

Noticed this behaviour over the years. Not robbing as this would happen at other times and bees not zigzagging, just circling in outward move.

Any ideas?

What they do outdoors is that they make their gut empty.

Young bees eate lots of pollen and pollen shells fill the cut.

Circulate? ....They locate their home and especially the entrance hole.

Afrer rainy days they have big pressure to come out, and they often come in the morning when sun shines.

Normal time is 14 aclock, because it is highest day temp then.

The queen mates too at that time.
