Hi,
Just got home and very luckily saw a cluster of bees in the grass. Looking closer I noticed they were all over a queen. About 25 bees. They were about 5-6 feet away from a nuc i made up 3 or so weeks ago. Eggs were present last sunday. The nuc seemed to be roaring like mad, so I picked up the quenn and put her at the entrance of the nuc. Sh e went straight in and straight away bees were fanning like mad at the entrance. After a few minutes they seemed quieter.
Have I done the right thing. Is this an unusual occurance?
Thanks
Craig

Is this an unusual occurance?

Certainly doesn't happen every day!

Check the nuc for supercedure cells. Even in other hives. Although the roaring would seem that they had very recently lost their queen.

Very quiet and peaceful now. I was so luck that she was close to the hive. She could have been anywhere.
