.I did take your advice on heat loss being greater to the top than to the sides so as I was short of time and skills made a hat as opposed to a jacketraditional for my nucs...

Oh and BTW. ..I really would appreciate if someone could tell me what type of bees they think I have...just from the point of view that I am just curious..

I am pretty certain however that they are not Buckfast!!!
Although having very fond memories of childhood in the south of England they probably would be my choice for the romance and climate!

I would hesitate to guess you have a mix, with a high proportion of AMM given your location.
If you find them okay, I would suggest sticking with them and enjoying.
