Hello everyone
In an article in a Dutch beekeeping journal from the 1950s, I read about a hive called a "little English hive". From the pictures and drawings it would appear to be a standard 6-frame nuc box. The author mentions in passing that these hives were used for exporting bees from the Netherlands to the UK in the 1930s to 1950s, hence the name. Does anyone here know anything about the importing of bees during that time, from e.g. the Netherlands to the UK, and in particular what kind of hive was used as a standard when importing it?
Thanks
Samuel
