    Nationwide abandoned hives.

This sort of reminds me of how I got involved in beekeeping 40 odd years ago. There was a man who went round in a van selling clothing etc to the local farmers. He also had a lot of hives on several of these farmers land. He died fairly suddenly and his widow had no idea where he had all of his...

    Maisemore sale

My order number is 1515 so I don't know if they started at 1 and I would say my order is fairly small (just over £110) hopefully get it before Christmas!!

just a quick request to see how many of you are still waiting on their items from the Maisemore sale. It's nearly a month since I ordered and although I had a reply to my email 2 weeks ago saying they were about 3 weeks behind, I'm still waiting!! Although I appreciate the current situation I...

    Buying Buckfast 2020 Queens

I also ordered and received a buckfast queen from BS Honeybees and she is doing great. Have got queens from the Beeman (Mike Waite) and they have also been top quality. In fact just got an email saying he's got more available just.

Things we don't know about bees?

Could be that some of the beeks on this forum, who sometimes disagree with your comments are sending their bees to your home to target your car!!!

    Amateur beekeepers ‘causing urban swarms’

I was watching the Wright Stuff on Channel 5 and they were talking about this as well and it seems to always be the case that when 'journalists' comment on articles like the widespread number of swarms apparently in urban areas, that they don't have a clue what they are talking about. They...

Any Beekeeper in Mansfield ng199df help needed

Mansfield Help Fast Mulchly I completely sympathise with your views about help on this forum sometimes. It does appear that a lot of the older hands seem to enjoy lording over anyone who asks for help with a problem and seem to be trying to discourage new or novice beekeepers from asking for...

    "45000 bees stolen" reported today

Unfortunately the quality of reporting up here in Scotland is very poor at the best of times. Its quite embarrassing when you know a bit about a subject and they report it like this. It is also a bit irresponsible to even mention the cost involved as this might make it seem like a viable target...

    Bbc 4

Was a bit puzzled with this programme tonight when they were trying the 'fresh' honey which had poured so easily out of the frames and extractor, and seemed to be brick hard when they were spreading it on they're toast!!!

    Windows XP

I thought it was just me who hated Windows 8, got a laptop and had no option but to use Windows 8 as it was the only operating system available! It is obviously meant for touch screen units, and it is so annoying when using the mouse and you 'hover' over anything and Windows opens it automatically!!

    what is happening here?

Is it not possible there is a large cavity underneath the pot and the bees are using this hole to come and go? There could be a drainage hole in the bottom of the pot!
