Are there any other "lucky" people out there that have been 'invited' to upgrade to Win 10? Win 8.1 is bad enough, they can't have made it any worse shirley.

My morphometry program will only work "nicely" on Winedoze Vista!

Muckrosoft only produce the new stuff to make your 6 month old PC redundant.... OMG still using a PC.. how quaint!!

have you read the Windows 10 small print?

MS are changing their business model, I'll bet there'll be loads of small print, and embedded in it somewhere will be the prospect of having a free OS, but having to pay for applications, likely on time-measured basis. They're not going open-source!

Whatever you do, make sure you have the ability to restore or re-install your original OS before committing to a possibly non-reversible upgrade to Win10.

Might be a good time to convert to Linux?

All Windows 8.x users, will get Windows 10 Upgrade FREE.

Release Date is July 29th 2015.

It's also stated, that Windows 10 will be the last shipped version, other versions will be over the air, patches....

My works PC is coming up for 8 years old, I feel no desire to upgrade the hardware. Then again I'm running the same basic linux software I first installed on it. Rolling software upgrades keep it up to to date and secure.

Only parts I've replaced is two sets of hard drives (I run RAID and monitor them) first sign of pending failure and we replace the set.

I have to remote desktop to a couple of BIG Windows servers to run some "specialist" programs (noddy databases in disguise). Only time things at work seem slow or unreliable.

The sales droids who seem to change their thing pads every six months losing "tons of valuable data" in the process, don't seem to comprehend why I don't need to upgrade to the latest wizz bang.
