What sort of behaviour is this?

sorry this might seen like a totally pointless post but when inspecting one of the hives earlier, they were acting differently to anytime i have seen before, is it normal behaviour?

Are you sure the blue bit is not packaging that you should have removed.
Looks like orientation flights.

is it a plate screwed on to secure the bb to the floor? - in which case there will be one at the back as well.

I suggest you remove it/them as no longer needed and it obscures the view of the entrance

Mind you, that's a lovely shade of Maggie T Tory blue

nope I think it could of been someones experiment to stop the bees hive drifting
 
I'm wondering if some of the bees are 'fanning' in the wrong direction, so could be trying to push air through the hive for some reason or other. Maybe it was warmer than usual?
