I have a new ish hive of about a month old which I used to do a split. Today I examined the Varoa Board which is underneath the open-mesh floor and found it really wet. It hasnt been raining here (Surrey) and the hive is in open ground so dont expect and drips from anything.

Im a bit puzzled, I suppose it could be condensation but if it is its an awful lot. I last looked at the board 5 days ago and it was dry then. Any thoughts?

Thanks. I have another hive that doesn’t exhibit this; is it best to try and improve ventilation etc?? If so, what’s good? Remove varoa tray / makes ventilation in the top / enlarge entrance??

And while the board is out, paint it white.
Much easier to count the varroa.
