We have had murmurs (usually from people with no input themselves) that the annual bee market is 'tired'.

So....We have a bee hive demo for 'Joe Public', a speaker giving an hour talk on a bee/nature related subject, bee inspectors with a bee disease prevention stand... stalls selling cakes and drinks, hot dog/burger lunches, plants and produce stall, Trade stands, and an auction of 2nd hand hive equipment. Colonies of bees for sale too.
What do you do that is so different???

Having Joe public at a bee auction has potential for unintended consequences.
Promotional exercises with associations putting on display stands and selling honey at local shows already goes on (my association has been to two this year). We talk to people and encourage them to join up or come along for intructory visits.
The crux of the matter is finding a balance between persuading people to start beekeeping and avoiding those who buy a hive and colony then rapidly drop the idea as it's too much work, requires too much commitment and they aren't prepared to learn the technicalities.

Just saying

The demo is behind safety area. Do every year... but mainly the day is for bee keepers who are established.
