I am to re-queen two colonies with imported AMM this week. The colonies currently have queens from 2012.

The two are hives not nucs. What is the best practice to introduce a new queen to a large colony? I have introduced queens before but to a made up nucleus.

Do i kill the old queen, wait 24hrs then introduce the new queen?

Do i need to reduce the hive to a nucleus to separate the foraging bee's. Then unite the foraging bee's later?

Or can i just introduce the queen to the hive? Sure i have read this method is likely to end in a royal death.

Is there anything wrong with the old queens if not offer them to someone else.

Nothing wrong with them. There are eight hives at the apiary site, all are AMM apart from these two that i am to re-queen.
