Thought I would try and make a couple of nucs. I am beginning to learn, the hard way, that you can never have too much equipment.

It's a six frame nuc

My second attempt is a work in progress.....a five frame nuc.....

Looks good as a nuc for summer use.

I would say that many will have loose floors so they can be used for uniting easily.

The entrance is generally at floor level, esp with the loose floor type and would facilitate corpse removal, especially for over-wintered colonies.

Not knocking your attempts, but just pointing out some attributes which you may, or may not, require, before you get half a dozen of the things, before realising any short-comings of the design. I would add that most of my nucs have fixed floors but I still retain a couple without, so that I can transfer the nuc frames to the 'easy to unite box' when needed.
