June Apiary Meeting

We had our association apiary meeting this afternoon and I took several pictures as normal for the website and newsletter. The owner of the apiary told us about a real ugly queen. It was only when I got home and looked closely at the pictures I'd taken I have to agree with him, she really is ugly for a queen.

Later on I turned to talk to a friend and spotted this so took a picture. They didn't fight but stood face to face for several minutes. Both had their tongues extended almost as if one was feeding the other.

I have no idea but the owner hasn't bought in any queens for awhile now. If I had to guess I'd say a carniolan cross mongrel.
