Our four over wintered hives went to seven -- 2 from an AS, 1 nuc, 1 captured swarm and three original hives. Of the other two original hives one swarmed and we gave it to a friend, and one swarmed but we lost it (despite retrieving it first from a roof and then from a garden 
). As of today six have laying queens and are looking good. My son who has just turned 8 is really interested in the bees, and he spotted the queen in our nuc as we transferred it to a box even though he's never seen one before
