I'm pretty sure my bees had enough stores going into winter...

that being said, its my first winter and I wanted to be sure so threw some fondant on top of the frames the other day (bees looked in rude health by the way). If they use the fondant will they be mixing with water and then moving it into frames for later use or will they just consume the fondant directly?

I would like to know as I'm tempted to peek in a couple of weeks to see if its being used?

From my experience the bees just use it and don't store it.

Simple difference of whether or not in a cluster, but there will be times when the bees might just ignore excessive feed....

In true beekeping style... no one answer. lol

I will probably pick a warm day in a week or 2 and have a quick peek.

Thanks all.
