Very strange day: went to remove a supa that's been sitting on an excluder for 2 days having previously been above a QE. First went yesterday but there were still bees. Today there were still bees, just a few, so went armed with spare supa to remove frames into after brushing. On one frame there was drone brood, just about 1/3 of one side, so not a great deal but 90% of it was capped, the rest well formed brood.
The supa had been positioned over 2 others and above a QE for a while, the 2 lower being one of foundation (being worked well) and one of drawn comb about 70% full of stores, the former being over the brood, so giving a stack of: Brood: Foundation: Stores: Supa being taken off.
Question: would the bees in the top supa think they were in a Q- hive because the foundation supa was creating some sort of barrier therefor causing a worker to start laying?
