Could be gorse, its in flower alongside the M65 here in Blackburn

Went round several apiaries yesterday that have gorse growing a couple of yards from the hives and they were very busy working on it in.
Good quality pollen.

Lots of light grey pollen and orange going in the hives today. Crocus and Hazel and Alder being worked around my apiary.

Just found field of this, not much about here though.

i'm yet to see any honeybees out this year. But I saw some bumblebees feeding on crocus and snowdrops in Sussex , they also seemed to like the hellebores

I caught one on camera , I imagine they are more resilient against colder weather, as they are fully native, and most honeybees are hybridised

black bees

If it is out this early surely it will be brown bread by the weekend..
The one hive of black bees were out bringing in pollen from nearby gorse at 9am today temperature 2 degrees what a surprise to see.

Unbelievable, my swarm that adopted a hive last year and not that pleasant to work with are Flying! Yes snow flakes are falling here and there yet these little ones are busy.
