    Thymol honey after Apilife Var

Thank you. I’d read the leaflet too but wanted to be sure it isn’t dangerous to consume. I honestly thought it tasted nice too but I know many others would disagree!

    Thymol honey after Apilife Var

Good afternoon. So, during a recent inspection, my brother poked his finger into the very corner of one frame in the super 🤦🏼‍♀️, only a tiny bit and he was suitably admonished! He said the honey tasted amazing. However, I put Apilife Var into the hive five days ago so the honey had a thymol...

    Under floor entrance.

Thank you! I’m looking more for advocates of using them, as in, experiences of the benefits and disadvantages but thanks for the heads up!

    Under floor entrance.

Hi. I’m considering converting my shop bought National hive floors to underfloor entrances, as per Laurence BMH instructional YouTube. My question is, and apologies if this has been covered previously but I did do a thread search and couldn’t find a great deal, is it worth the effort? The...

    Goat willow flowers in smoker?

Hi all. I’ve absolutely loads of these that have come off the goat willow tree in my garden. Is it safe, after drying, to use them in the smoker? 🙂

Relocating 5 hours from current location.

Thank you John! I'm headed about 10 miles north of the Brecon Beacons, or Bannau Brycheiniog, as its now been officially restored to. I'm planning this like a strategic military operation, on a Tuesday! I've made travelling screens, bought water sprayers, mesh for the entrances, tape for the...

Relocating 5 hours from current location.

Hi all. In six weeks time I am relocating to Wales from York. The drive will be around 5 hours assuming I make no stops. Would anyone be able to offer any advice on how best to seal the hives for transporting and how best to "settle" them once I eventually get to Wales? Any general hints and...

We've gorse, snowdrops and crocus here in North Yorkshire. The bees are very busy coming back with bright yellow legs!

John Without wishing to offend anyone or speak ill of someone on a public board, I will respond to your message with a private reply, if that’s ok with you.

    Advice for a (fairly) newbie!

Thank you for your kind words. I feel that many beekeepers do things in different ways, there are so many variables like pollen flow, weather, temperature etc and “one size does not fit all”. Again, if anyone near York could spare a frame, I’d be very grateful.

    Advice for a (fairly) newbie!

So…I just spoke to the supplier I bought the mated Queen from and was advised that there may have been a virgin queen in the hive when I introduced the mated queen. He asked me to check the hive again on Friday and let him know the situation. When I did the inspection yesterday, I didn’t see any...
