2nd demaree of the season - top BB clear of brood?

Trying demaree method this season. Have completed 1st round successfully, but now tempted to do it again on the same colonies. I've read that demaree can be repeated as soon as the top BB is clear of brood, but i'm wondering how important this is? it's only been a couple of weeks since the first...

rapid cooling system for honey creamer?

I use an ABELO creaming machine that has an incorporated heating element. After the heating, the desired rapid cooling of the honey is no problem at this time of year, but in the warmer months it can take many days (even when strapping ice blocks to the outside). Has anybody come up with a good...

    Organic Honey ?

I'm a bit mystified by the claim on some honey jar labels as being "organic". I went to the Rowse website and they say that their own organic honey "is from organic agriculture and certified by the Soil Association". I presume from this that they mean that the hives are situated on farms that...

I'm looking for recommendations for some sort of temporary screen. Environmental Health Officer - registration?

After reading the advice from the "FOOD SAFETY AND YOUR HONEY" document (from the NLB webpages), I was wondering how many small honey producers, like myself, who sell direct to the public "throughout the year" actually register with their local environmental health officers? So far, I have not...

Address on Jar label. How specific?

I am thinking of a design for my own honey jar labels. I have seen other labels that are very specific about the address of the supplier, right down to name of house and street number of house and post code. How specific does it need to be? I can see that if you live at a nice sounding rural...
