Inspected two. Each had a full super - from almost empty five days ago. Upper brood boxes backfilled but no swarm cells. As each frame was removed, the bees got a shower of nectar. I don’t think I’ve seen a flow like this before. Amazing. Each got a second drawn super and I’m hoping they’ll move...

I was just trying to use up the last vowel and could only come up with one option, that, in truth, I didn’t know was a proper word!

Went through my four. Some nectar now being stored, but only the very beginnings of “stores” seen. Three were calm and well tempered, one improved on last week. (That’s not hard). One colony had a queen cell extending from the base of the foundation, which had shrunk or been chewed back...

The fields adjacent to my apiary are used for intensive grass production for silage and for a digester to produce energy. The fields are regularly blitzed with Roundup and reseeded, then after each cut, the slop from the digester and slurry gets dumped on the fields. (Four times last year)...
