Yes, level. As has been said already they cope with a bit of tilt fore n aft. Think of a bit of string hanging in the frame. If it's hanging out of the frame this is what the bees will do. I usually put a 0.4mm stainless wire across the frame which gives them an anchor point. Works really well...
I have been foundationless for maybe 8 years now and one tip I would give is make sure your hive is set square. Bees use gravity as in they are the plumb Bob👍
Hi all. I have been using standard address labels on A4 sheets printed by the trusty Dell laser. People return the jars often but the labels just don't come off. Looking at changing the labels to X 7 per A4 so one label for front/back. Question is, has anyone used the non permanent/removable...
Perfect. Sounds like it's a good machine:-) This is a used one as the price for new was a wee bit too much but will check the valve out.
Have a couple of barrells of old comb to melt up so it's going to be busy doing that first.
Just wondering if any of you are using one of these machines and have any tips? Like if you use a bag for the old brood wax for example and at what temp you use for granulated in comb honey.
Cheers in advance. Pick one up tomorrow
If I were religious I could blame something but im not. I do belive in nature but that is what she does. We of course are all freaks of nature which is why we screw things up so much and often. :-) One makes what one can of what one has. I honestly belive there is no excuse for letting apiaries...
It did come up quick for sure but no so quick as you didnt notice. Always had it in my mind what action to take.......kind of. Been there 17 years with only one previous event near to this one in that time. Thank you all for your concern.
If I were at work it would have been very different. Dont...
Busy Boxing day
Was a busy Boxing day monitoring the water rising in the River Foss which runs next to the apiary #honeymeadow. Thinking the hives would be ok I went out for a paddle in the rain for maybe 40 mins. When I got back the flood water had come up maybe 2-3" and very near into the...
Last round of OA sublimox use and perfect weather to use as not tight clusters. Very happy with the outcome with only 2 colonies showing a moderate rate drop and the rest not more than 20 at worst! Thanks for putting me onto the sublimox hivemaker! So much esier than the 12v thing. It is all I...
Thanks for putting the pictures up 2Dive. Looks a good set up but as you say, them runners look like not lasting long but an easy to do job especially if you do it before you glue. Cant really work it out but is the groove in the picture for a spacer runner? If so then super easy to do.
Sounds good so far. All the niggly problems with the Paynes one gone! Look forward to the pictures. Do they hold 11 or 12 frames? Or maybe 11 and 15/16ths of 1.
Really? There is a lot more kerfuffle in filling moulding marks etc on a Paynes poly of which I have 20+ It really will be super easy and most certainly not a botch job to remove....if needed the poly bump runner that probably wont run:-) Like I say, if needed. It might work great. Dont not let...
