2014 Basic Beekeeping Course with Barnet & District BKA

Barnet & District BKA's Basic Beekeeping Course will offer beginners a solid grounding in the theory of beekeeping followed by a full season of hands on training on our hives in the Association's Teaching Apiary.

Theory Lectures: four alternate Saturdays of theory lectures in March and April running from 9.30 to 16.00 with three main topics covered on each day.

Practical Sessions: weekly hive work (Saturdays) held in our Training Apiary (May 2014 until October 2014). Inspections and other apiary work are necessarily weather dependent with afternoon sessions more likely in spring/autumn and morning meetings in summer. Beginners may be required to help with other jobs in addition to the weekly sessions.

Venue: Barnet & District BKA Apiary and Club House in Wood Street, Barnet EN5

Course including book and full membership of the Association: £139.00

The course syllabus is built around the BBKA Basic Assessment and beginners, after the appropriate practical experience with their own bees, will be encouraged to take the Basic Exam.
