Isn't Fumidil B a natural product?

Fumidil B (bicyclohexyl-ammonium fumagillin) :- a soluble salt of an antibiotic produced by fermentation of Aspergillus fumigatus. This antibiotic has been found to possess a specific activity against the protozoon Nosema Apis, the cause of Nosema disease in honey bees.[1] The antibiotic prevents the reproductive stages of the parasites from attacking the epithelial cells of the digestive stomach of the bee.

As natural as Penicilin is.

It would be made in a large vat and the process sped up like cheese making is with other chemicals.

This is a extract from M bush web site,so this could be the reason, but its okay in usa and canada?

The European Union has banned it's use in beekeeping. So we know they aren't using it legally anyway. Their reason? It is suspected of causing birth defects. Fumagillin can block blood vessel formation by binding to an enzyme called methionine aminopeptidase. Targeted gene disruption of methionine aminopeptidase 2 results in an embryonic gastrulation defect and endothelial cell growth arrest. What do they use for treatment in the EU? Thymol syrup.

The European Union has banned it's use in beekeeping. .

UK 2008 : "6. There are currently four products authorised for the control of bee diseases in the
UK: Apiguard Gel, Apistan and Bayvarol Strips (for the control of varroa) and
Fumidil B Power (for the control of nosema)."

You may use it but it cannot be found in your sold honey.

In Finland permission to sell Fumidil B has been denied. No delivering.

I understand. shall we talk about varroa now ha ha.

As far as I know, thymol is not a nosema medicine. I have read a lot of new researches. Australian tried to reviele it out but they were not convinced.

2. The Effects of Thymol on Nosema page 24

----------In this section, I report on thymol as a potential control agent for nosema disease in honeybees

"To address the third objective of the research proposal a model system was used. It was demonstrated
that thymol is affective in suppressing N. vespula infections in H. armigera caterpillars under
laboratory conditions. From evidence of the action of thymol on bacteria and fungi, it is likely that
thymol acts directly on the spore, penetrating the spore coat and disrupting the plasma membrane. This
action prevents germination of the spore and the subsequent disease caused by the replicating
sporoplasm. Brown observed that sugar syrup containing 0.44mM thymol was effective in controlling
nosema disease in over wintering honeybees.
The data for N. vespula supports this claim. The life
cycle of N. apis presents several opportunities for the thymol contained in sugar syrup to come in
contact with N. apis spores, and as such, thymol is likely to be a highly effective control for nosema
disease. Australian honeybee colonies may also benefit substantially from the inclusion of thymol in the
sugar syrup fed."

No its not a medicine, buts its a good fungicide, and nosema is fugus family,so the two will never be good friends.
Oxalic is not for varroa here, its to clean the wood.

The following measures have been put in place by the VMD to improve the
availability of medicine for bees allowed substances such as oxalic acid, formic acid and lactic acid to be used in
the UK to control varroosis although they are not authorised in the UK.
