Hi all, I am new to the forum but on my 3rd year keeping bees. I have some concerns on 1 colony that I started with 2 Queen Cells and 4 frames of brood & Bees on 10th April, this was left for 3 weeks and inspected on 1st May, when the queen was spotted suspect mated due to size but no eggs present. The situation has not changed when inspected on 1st, 7th & 14th May.
What appears to be a mated queen (IMHO) is present but no eggs at all.
I had expected her to start laying by the 7th at the latest, but am now unsure what to do with her?
If she unsuccessfully mated would she start start laying but drone only?
How long can wait before trying to replace her? ( I currently have no queenright colony to take a test frame from.)
Thanks in advance for any advise/comments
Hopefully you will see a picture of the Queen(Becky) here:
