I have just been told that two full supers have been stolen in the last week from a hive in an Apiary situated in a field close to the A1 /M25. Another Hive in the same apiary was interfered with and the Half Brood Box Split from the Brood box by inserting wooden slats between the two boxes
I assume the theives thought the half brood was a honey super and then found that the hive had a strain of particulary nasty and defensive little dark bees that got through two layers of clothing the last time i helped the owner of the hives
has anyone any ideas why the slats between the supers and brood?, is this a known method of clearing a super , the only thought i had was the slats making anescape route for bees if you smoked heavily down from the top
Another two hives on a nearbye apairy had several full capped manley frames removed from two Supers in early july
lots of sticky fingers around here
