Reading Ted Hooper's book, on page 155 he states;
"A queen will never sting you

Makes me feel quite positive about handling them if that's true.

Anyone know different?

I'd be more concerned when handling a queen about me damaging her than she stinging me

I don't even consider it when handling them. Never known a queen to show the slightest bit of interest. Queen stings are for stinging queens!

I've had that déjà vu before...

I had one the other day that made several "cross" noises when i was trying to pick her up to clip her! She put me right off the idea!!!

And at the other end... Opened a ripe-to-pop QC today to release a queen. Couldn't find my queen cage so while we played hunt-the-matchbox, held queen captive with fingertip. Queen continued to bite away at the new barrier to freedom. Quite a tickle from those powerful mandibles!

It's not the queens wot sting me. It's the others. They don't like me handling their mum.
