Hi all,

I have just been reading the comments on this thread and looking at the Rose hive system. As I see it the method works on encouraging the queen to lay vigoursly by increasing the size of the brood nest in increments.

As many have said the size of these boxes would appear not to matter so would the use of national supers be viable?

I already use standard nationals and would be tempted to try the Rose system along side just as a trial. Obviously using the same kit for everything would be useful especially if I dumped the idea after a few years! 😀

Cheers

No reason you couldn’t use Nat supers. I use Rose boxes. This year I will try a couple of hives with a QX as an experiment.

On a serious note that lady in the videos should have been born a man, she is a machine..

Has she been assimilated by the Borg like Seven of Nine?

EDIT: If anyone is interested in acquiring lots of Rose hive bits including hives and new unused frames and foundation, I know someone who has lots for sale. Please PM me.

.
I cannot see anything else in Rose Hive than take the excluder off. So I have kept allways my hives 55 years.

Mr. Rose keeps as problem that there are 2 kind of boxes, brood boxes and supers. To keep only one kind of boxes does not bring any advantage..

There is practical alternative to excluder too. Keep to midd summer without excluder and put it on for late half of summer.

When I keep hives without excluder, proper ventilation is necessary. Otherwise the queen goes to lay somewhere to upstairs.
.

.
Mr Rose writes that there are no diseases in Rose Hive. So he claims that excluder makes all 30 pest and diseases.

Such rubbish. I have had all ordinary diseases.

I don't think we need re-open this can of worms Finnie! Some people see this as an advantage, others not.

I haven't ever read Tim Rowe say that pest or diseases are eliminated... only that his own bees are healthy.

I think you have a good point about the benefit of adding a QX before the late summer flow, and I intend to try this year to see for myself.

So you are a resilient sort. But what about your bees? ;-)

Oh dear.
Such wisdom.

He clearly says, that in new method the bees are healty. ( when you take the excluder off)
How much that reading needs intelligence or imagination?
