I asked too many questions in one go in my last post and this one got missed.

Does it mean:
1. Number of frames with any brood at all?
2. Number of frames completely full of brood?
3. Something else, somewhere in between?

Thanks,

Paul

Each frame that has a big spread of capped brood, larvae and eggs is.. a frame of brood
If a small amount then I discount as potential, but not included in my maths!

A frame (both sides) pretty much full of any combination of eggs, lavae, sealed brood.
Something like his.

Fantastic photos Yorkshire Bees - what camera and lens are you using?

Just a compact Cannon IXY 910IS which I have had for about 5yrs.

Too messy with propolis etc at the moment to get my proper camera out!

Why are my frames of brood sooo brown compared to yours?? Not like I have been at this forever and using old frames!! :(

That is probably a new frame / foundation from last year as it was a swarm collected last year. I have darker frames aswell in some hives. Depends a lot on the bees, also that was I guess about the 3rd frame in from one side of the box so not used as much as the centre yet.

Couldn't take too many photos as I was by myself and that particular hive uses lots of propolis to glue the frames down and didn't want to transfer that via my gloves to the camera!
