Number of Hives
50+. Double Std National & 14x12
Had a call this evening from an association member who has had 2 hives stolen just outside kings lynn. They took number 1 and 4 out of a row of 6 that were combined down from 10 only yesterday. These were not in sight of the road and on private land.

Did they take effectively double broods or pick out the single box hives? Single box broods will easily fit in a car but those with two would be a bit more of a problem for most.

As an aside, fixing the floors to tall stands might deter some potential thieves, or at least reduce the number able to be taken at one go, but not for those with larger vans.

These were both std nationals on brood and half. No additional honey supers in place. There was evidence of the vehicle getting stuck and the tyre marks seem to indicate a small van / normal car.

Another member had some hives interfered with about 4 weeks ago, he had screwed the floor to the stands and they left them behind once they realised they wouldnt move easily.
