When I inspected yesterday there was a big moth, about an inch long, tucked inside the roof. Am I right in thinking this was NOT a wax moth ?

Over the past few weeks I've found a number of moths under the roof overhangs. Not wax moth but others presumably having emerged in the trees and just sheltering.

This one was actually inside the hive though.

Greater Wax Moth is up to 20mm in length with a wingspan up to 33mm.
Search the web for pics, see if it's the same.
BBKA have some info on it, but I can't post the link yet.

I checked the pics and now I think it probably was a wax moth. What next ?

Squash it and worry aout iding later.

A healthy colony can deal with them apparently.
