Winter losses 2013/14

5 Colonies going into winter, no losses. Though i have now united 2 together as one was slow building up.

One colony probably less than 2 frames going into winter... still going... not alot bigger, havent inspected, but the bees are still in there

3 hives going into winter. 3 hives initially came out. But hive 3 queen only laid very few brood & on 30th Mar found her dead outside the hive with about 200 dead bees.

The colony tried to requeen 4 QCs but only a few drones about at time of hatching. Either the winning queen was rejected or died. Thought for a while she might've been in there when larvae found in a tight pattern. But when insp'd following week, was all drone
For the survey I've counted this as a hive loss. Currently in process of introducing a new queen........ fingers crossed.

33 and 5 nucs wintered, no losses
