Mann lake suggest Spring 2015 if I interpret the web page correctly. Google 'Mann Lake UK hopguard' if this link fails http://www.mannlake.co.uk/beekeeping-supplies/category/page60.html

    Does that include ISAs too?

    The Taxman

I wonder if Jack could clarify one last point for the sticky post. If for example one person in a marriage or civil partnership pays tax on income or pension, but the other is a househusband/wife with no income, could the non taxpayer use their tax free allowance for honey sales - i.e. income...

    Architecture student researching bees

James, you have failed the first test - lack of googling skills. All the answers to these questions are ready available online with the simplest of searches. First thing to do is learn the difference between 'hive' and 'colony'.

    New bees?

Hi John. From your intro on the welcome forum it appears that you have not done a course or experienced a full colony up close and personal. If that is correct I would recommend waiting until you have experienced how intimidating a full colony can be before committing to any of your own...

Opinions - best vehicle for Beeks?

Until you have an accident then all hell will break loose and the emergency services won't approach to help you! You could say the same about seatbelts - no need for one until you have a crash!

I compare honey to whisky to those questioning cost. You can buy cheap blended supermarket stuff, but if you want the good stuff you have to pay much more. Amazing how little the average punter knows about the different types, tastes and quality.

    BIBBA Regional meeting In February

There's a thread similar to the way this one is going which has just fizzled out on the BBKA forum.

You can make very strong stands out of pallets. Take them apart and use the wood.

    Wasps

Yes, they did look and act like large workers. I assumed that the recent frosts would've killed the blighters though.

    Wasps

I saw wasps flying around the hives when I visited the out-apiary on Friday. The car was showing 7 degrees. They looked like workers but were most likely queens.

Welcome to all Omlet Beehaus Members

They can and do get red mite in a Cube even if you hose the crevices and use boiling water. We've had an orange one for about 6 years.

Labels - so how can this possibly be legal?

I'd be tempted to get a second opinion rather than rely on your local trading standards who were desperate to find a reason to fob you off. Last thing they want is to take action against a multi national. Edit: Plus this is a job for the BBKA not an individual.

    Super cheap cedar nationals

I don't get this. If someone hears about a genuine saving for equipment or supplies why not post it here? On other non beekeeping forums such information is welcomed as long as it is not spam from the vendor. Competition is good - I hope that the other suppliers take note of the ML pricing and...

    Super cheap cedar nationals

Do they make the ritecell foundation to fit normal national wooden frames?

Plus can anyone comment on the plastic foundation mentioned? Any good or best to stick to wax?

Scottish "beekeeper" "Eric McArthur" threatens to burn hives.

If true I assume loose dates rather than prepacked. I don't think I've seen loose dates here - I stand to be corrected if they are available. Besides, I assume most fruit shipped here is chilled, under ripe and/or sealed in a 'protected athmosphere'. I also assume they are washed and graded...

    Worst scaremongering article this year?

All this is actually a great free lesson for any business studies student. They will learn more about marketing and running a business from all this criticism than they've probably learned during the last two years of their course. They will be the wiser for it. If they were on the Apprentice...
