    ****** Nuc sale

I have good Standard and Commercial nucs for sale at £90 (bees and frames). I think that is a reasonable price, simply trying to get some of the money back I spend on the bees during the year, it helps me buy new equipment and look after my bees well. There is still plenty of time for them to be...

Nucs for sale Hampshire £90 Nat and Commercial

3 six frame National Standard nucs, bursting with bees, food and brood of all ages. Also one 5 frame Commercial nuc, in very good condition. These are the ones I wanted to keep but I simply have too many bees Queens are all 2013 and marked. Good temperament, would suit a beginner. £90 each...

    Queen and laying workers?

Just an update. She was a drone layer, and was replaced by die supplier, to be safe I have shaken all the bees off some distance away and introduced the replacement queen to all the flying bees that returned (just to get rid of any possible laying workers as well) The colony is doing very well...

    Chickens

I have never seen a chicken eat a bee. My chickens share the garden with about 6 hives and are often under or between the hives, even when I am working the bees. My bees and chickens have so far ignored each other for the last 4 years. If the bees are in a bad mood they can sting the chickens...

Queen transplant into egg-laying worker hive

Are these scout bees and what will happen next?

I have had this happen three times this season - on one occasion a huge swarm moved in the next day, so keep your fingers crossed. If they like what they see they will move in. Keep the lemon grass oil coming! That certainly helped with mine.

No smoke s the way forward!

I very rarely use smoke, a mist of water does the trick just fine 95% of the time.

    Which Sort?

Would guess 2 or three seasons back may have been Italian, now heading towards pure British Street bees (cross-bred natives). Nice picture!

Stubborn Resistance to introducing a new Queen

I would take them about 20 yards away, put another hive in their place with a few frames of sealed brood if you have some, comb if you don't. Put a QE over the entrance, then shake all the bees out and let them fly back. Some young bees may not be orientated but will hopefully join other hives...
