    Poured wax candles

Afraid not. Classed as the most difficult but finding what it is seems to be the difficult element!!

    Poured wax candles

In John Gibson's really helpful 'Honey Show Classes' he indicates a hierarchy of candles for show with poured being the hardest, then dipped, then moulded (glass/plastic) and finally silicone. My question is what is a poured candle?

    Allergic reaction to bees wax

Thanks for your response. Replies to date not really what I was looking for! I appreciate it!

    Allergic reaction to bees wax

Using a Bain-Marie. Usual process. Using 3M 4251+, which I use for sublimation, the problem goes away!

    Allergic reaction to bees wax

I wondered if anyone had developed a severe cough after making bees wax candles? Is so, besides not making candles, what 'gas mask' would you recommend?

    Smaller scale wax melting

What a load of nonsense. Yorkshire water is the finest in the country making the best Yorkshire Tea. Brilliant taken in the right spirit. We send all our reject undrinkable water to London.

    Extractor

I agree with Jinks…I also now have a Vevor 4 frame manual although the price has shot up! Now about £170!

    Extractor

I bought an electric extractor from Thornes, but dreadful quality. Uncontrollable and my frames disintegrated as speed uncontrollable. Vevor sell good manual extractors at half the price of Thornes and are made by the same company in China, sourced through Alibaba

    Horsley Board Design consideration

My local BKA have had a lot of discussion regarding whether a Horsley board should have pheromone passing gauze either side of the board or just on one side. Logic suggests it should be both sides to avoid close contact. Thoughts appreciated

Thornes electric 3 frame tangential spinnee

Hello Martinat. That is really interesting. You have given me some good insight. Maybe I need to go manual!

Thornes electric 3 frame tangential spinnee

They have agreed to take it back. I did uncap of course. Yes, I have no doubt it is a failed rheostat but Thornes indicate very high levels of quality control, just not evident.

Thornes electric 3 frame tangential spinnee

It only goes at one speed. Extremely fast even though the controller says low to high…it only does high!

Thornes electric 3 frame tangential spinnee

Sorry went too quickly! The Thornes site says British manufacturer. Extremely high margin and misrepresented. Even their picture is different…

Thornes electric 3 frame tangential spinnee

Just bought one of these. Bolted it to the floor. Put 3 loaded National super frames in. Within 5 seconds had wrecked all 3 with motor going at a phenomenal speed. Cost £350. On Alibaba it costs $120! Some mark up. Made in China even though the Thornes site

    Hive lost to wasps.

I had really bad problems until I changed to kewl floors which have been 100% amazing at keeping wasps at bay. Changed all my floors now. I made modified versions but still similar to Even kewler floors - The Apiarist

    Putting Fondant on a Hive

I will feed my bees going into winter with 12.5kg of fondant. Concerned it may 'drip' onto the clustered colony and cause a problem. Seen suggestion of putting it on a QE above the brood box. Appreciate thoughts and shared experience pls.

    Moving colonies in winter

I have built a new apiary about 25m from the existing one. I understand the 3yd and 3 mile rule. Can I have you words of wisdom about moving when bees are not flying please.

How to stop invasion of wasps

Try…no attractants anywhere near…do not feed your bees…do not add wet supers after extraction…follow https://beekeepingforum.co.uk/attachments/wasp-baffle-pdf.28611/
