    2 queens after requeen

Also, I killed the drone laying queen so it can’t be her also.

    2 queens after requeen

Sorry, yes. I was too vague. I introduced the queen, a week later I released her from the cage then left for 2 weeks. In the next inspection I found queen cells which I proceeded to destroy (instructed to do so) but I must have missed one (silly me!!!). I then went in after 10 days - nothing...

    2 queens after requeen

Hi all, I have just requested (after a drone laying queen) and she got introduced very well - no problems. However, after a couple of weeks, I did an inspection and found two queens!! I am just wondering my best route to take from here: 1. Kill the new young queen, leaving the old mother. 2...

    Deformed wings

Hi all, Thanks so much. Will sort out some varroa treatment tomorrow. Had a look on some of the bees and couldn't see any varroa, and also none on the varroa board so hopefully all ok. Thanks, H

    Deformed wings

Another thing Sorry...Another thing that I noticed in the inspection was some uncapping in the brood. An NBU inspector has recently come around and given the all clear for everything but just thought I would add a photo of this too, just incase it is related. Thanks. p.s. sorry about the...

    Deformed wings

Hi All, I inspected my hive today and everything was going ok until I noticed that I was gathering a small pile of bees in front of the entrance way. There were probably 50 bees there, so was a bit worried. I finished my routine inspection and kept having a look at them but some have still not...

    Swarms

Hi Everyone, I am just wandering when everyone gets swarms and how this year has been for swarms? I am really wanting to get a swarm this year but not sure if I will. Just a few questions (FYI, I live in the East of England): When is the peak season for swarming (online says loads of...

Different types of foundation and different cell types

Yep. It would be from the colony I have here. I don’t want to do that with someone else’s. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Honey in the winter

Cool, thanks, I'll do that. I can assume it gives them a good starting boost in the spring to get them going.

    Honey in the winter

Ok, thank you so much. Out of interest, how much honey do you harvest a year from your hives?

    Honey in the winter

Yep - that makes sense. Not in it for money but I have fallen in love with them so hopefully the honey too soon so just want some happy bees. Thanks

    Honey in the winter

When you say to “store wet”, is that just extracting from the frames and then sealing them for the whole winter to give it to them to feed on in the springs for a boost? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Different types of foundation and different cell types

Ok, thanks. What’s your opinion on moving framed from one colony to another. It would be with brood and everything (apart from live bees obviously!). Is it bad for a colony to have other brood coming in? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Overhanging trees in apiaries

Chickens I have my hive facing out chickens about 10 meters away. There have been absolutely no problems so far and I have had days when it has been thunder storms and the bees have been very unhappy, so it should be ok. I havn't seen a hive closer than that however. Let me know what you...

    Honey in the winter

Awesome. Thanks, thats what I was hoping for. Just one quick thing. Is it ok to move a used frame from one hive to another if they are pretty close to each other. It would be as a sort of way to boost a starting hive. Thanks

Different types of foundation and different cell types

Ok. Do you happen to know how much bees wax I would get per 14x12 frame if I melted it down for the wax to do the trade to make foundation from it, after it has been processed to be cleaned?
