Asian hornets in the UK. A chance of stopping them?

Mazzamazda have you tried knocking them out with CO2 directly from the traps? Then treating with the custard leaving them to wake up and return to the nest and allowing release of the other pollinators as well?

    Poly hives

Make sure there is not too much paint on the stand lugs that connect to the brood if using paynes. I just put one coat of masonry on these then 3 all over the rest. J

    clumsiness making bees aggressive

Hi I find that removing one or two frames from the outside of the box gives more room to maneuver (make sure the queen is not on it) rest them gently against the side of the brood on the end of the frame. With the extra space you can angle the frame at a slight diagonal to the box...

    "domesticating" feral bees

I agree with the disease comments. I extracted (via chainsaw method) an established colony out of a fallen tree two months ago and framed up the existing comb. Colony very healthy and not one varroa mite on the board.

    Feral colony in tree

Hi I did a removal from a tree stump two weeks ago near bristol. It went okay and colony is settling into the hive nicely. Queen is now laying with a half frame of larvae and lots of eggs. Took a video which is up on northsomerset beekeepers home page as cannot post url here. 😅😃
