Both these 2 open air colonies were within 2 miles of each other 2 months apart. Your thoughts, as this is only my third experience with these.

This was from a removal that had swarmed into an air vent 5 days prior. Ironically the void was small in order to suit the small cast (around 3 frames of bees). Note shenwas not a virgin.... eggs this early.

Here you clearly see a redundant wasp nest next to an active colony. I would suggest the wasps robbed out the weak colony last year then naturally expired, leaving empty comb for a recent swarm to move in. As ever, unique and amazing.

It did have open brood. Always find each removal amazing and unique.
