Leg jiggling: is it a male-only phenomenon? An observational study in an airport café.

I think it's a common symptom of a few neurodivergent conditions. Variety is the spice of life though eh, the world would be a boring place if we were all the same :D

Leg jiggling: is it a male-only phenomenon? An observational study in an airport café.

I'm female, have unmedicated ADHD and can say that most people with ADHD are prolific legg jigglers, knee bouncers, toe tappers, etc! Myself included. I often get a little nudge from my husband when we're out, or he'll put his hand on my knee (ooooh Maaatron) as a silent way of drawing my...

What did you do in the 'workshop' today

We've a tank of honey that I'd intended to jar this week which has now started granulating. I longingly dreamed of heated tanks for 5 minutes, then went and grabbed the next best alternative I had to hand... Piece of insulation, topped with 2 hot water bottles, gingerly put the tank on top...

    Spawn of satan

Thank you, I'll get that looked at today 🙂

    Spawn of satan

Another good idea, thanks, that's my backup plan now!

    Spawn of satan

Nope, not desperate for bees, there's plenty of hives /nucs in that apiary, it's more stubborn determination on my part but I think I'm going to sieve them this weekend.

    Spawn of satan

Thanks, i think you're right about a dud queen, it's on this weekend's to do list and I really don't want to give up on them if I can salvage them so might try sieving with a QE, that's worked for us in the past. Then split them up.

    Spawn of satan

I know this a topic well covered, but I'm on the edge of giving up on this particular colony. It's the most aggressive hive I've ever known. They were an overwintered nuc with a pleasant temperament. The Queen however started this year sluggish and unproductive. It looked like they were...

    Systemic Sting Reactions

A lot of people here might remember that, having kept bees for a number of years and receiving my fair share of stings without any adverse reaction other than the usual itchy red patch, I was stung once on the finger 18 months ago and less than 2 minutes later I'd collapsed, unconscious with...

Price of honey jars - up , up , up

Let's hope it's not like so many other things in the shops/online that have recently been 'out of stock' only to return a few weeks later at an inflated price 🙁

Swarms not as plentiful this year

Ahaaaa, we did that too, so there's someone to share the blame now 🤣

Swarms not as plentiful this year

Since May 2nd , we've had swarms move into 3 of our bait boxes and have been called to remove a further 5 swarms in our area (Warrington, Cheshire), one had a red marked Queen which took me by surprise, 3 were yellow queens and the others were unmarked, it's definitely swarmy weather here at the...

    Osmo wood protector?

Perfect, thanks, exactly the info I needed to hear. Back to the yacht varnish perhaps....

    Osmo wood protector?

Morning everyone, I've got 12 wood interior Miller feeders to treat/waterproof and I've read plenty of suggestions through older threads, all of which are great, so I'm not looking for advice on what to use as such. I'm just wondering if anyone has used a wood protector called Osmo? It appeals...

First swarm call of the year.

Another 2 to collect yesterday, though one was the original swarm from the farmer's field who'd absconded from their nuc.... 🫣😆 managed to recollect those, then about 20 minutes later a swarm suddenly arrived at a bait box we'd put on the outhouse roof!
